Food Courts at the City Series #3: Isetan Basement

Recently the food court here was renovated and now there is so much awesome food!
There is everything from local cuisines to international cuisines.

This foodcourt is located at the basement of Isetan, and is accessible from Orchard MRT station.
Look for the signs that leads you towards tangs (once you see Citibank and Rubi, then a corridor with shops on both sides, you're heading in the right direction). Take the exit that leads you to Isetan/Scotts Road.

You'll then see this scene, escalators on the left and a slope on the right. Go to the right!

Walk up the slope and tadah! You'll be at Food Junction :D

My personal favourite is the thai food and the hotpot!

The best part about the hotpot is that you can put as much ingredients (mushrooms, veggies etc) as you want onto the empty white dish, and then cook your own hot pot. Mine was very mushroom-y as I filled half my dish with mushrooms haha. I personally always go for the spicy miso, as it tastes very good. But! I visited this place recently (4th July) and they no longer offer free 1st bowl of refills, soup is now more bland and prices are going up! I am indeed disappointed. Shall try other food next time

Food here is reasonably priced and very tasty! The only thing I find rather expensive is the drinks sold here. Be prepared to pay $1.80 for a single canned drink. There is a lot of variety in terms of the types of food, and there is a lot of space to sit even on a saturday evening.

Here are some of the stores

Do come here and have your meal if you're shopping at Isetan, or just want to have a quick meal :D

Food Courts at the City Series: #2 Foodplace at Raffles City Shopping Centre (City Hall Mrt)

I was having a headache just today wondering where on earth to have a cheap and satisfying meal in City Hall Mrt area.
I did not want to have fast food so I decided to go up to the Food Place on the top floor of Raffles City Shopping Centre (Although its name does indicate that it should be at Raffles Place mrt instead, IT IS NOT. It is at City Hall mrt!!)

I was…. Pleasantly surprised indeed.
I remember coming to this food court about May last year and I was not too happy about the poor ventilation and cramped environment.

Now so much has changed. The entire food court has obviously gone through a fantastic change. Whoever the interior designer is, well done! The place looks so posh now! And now there is somehow much more seats within the same area. I went for food slightly after the main lunch crowd (about 1.15pm) and there were quite a few empty tables around.

As you enter you can even have a quick look at the different stores and where they are located.

There are even tv displays to show you what food you can try.

Food in the city can never be too cheap, but I was indeed satisfied with my $5.50 Katsudon. It was tasty and the portion was just right. The waiting time was a little long though but I don’t actually mind. There is a wide variety of local food. I spied the food that other people where eating and it appears that the soup and economic rice options were quite popular!

If you’re not too keen to travel too far from the city to try food, I think this is a pretty nice food court for a quick meal :D

I hope to blog about a few more food centres at the city real soon. They include Marina Square, Isetan, Wisma, Hong Lim Park and Bugis :D Thanks for reading and till then!

Food Courts at the City Series: #1 Pontian Wanton Noodles at Orchard Cineleisure

If you are staying near the orchard area and wish to try our local food without heading too far away from the city centre, don't fret! I am now here to help :D

I present to you.... The first entry of the "Food Courts at the City" Series.
I decided on this series with the hope that I can help to identify food places around Orchard that are value for money and really up to standard of what local food should taste like!

So without further ado...
Have a look at this!

Oooooh! Nom nom nom
It's 1am now as I type this and I'm hungry. Gah!
Despite how the noodles look.... these are really yummy.
On a scale of 1 to 10.... this comes in at a 8.5!

Opinion
What I really like about this place is how it is not so crowded and that the food is relatively affordable (though if you need more food you should order a bigger portion!). Ah and the fact I can grab as much chilli and mayonnaise I want to accompany my meal!
This set cost me $4 if I am not wrong, my memory fails me at this hour.

The proportion of veggies to char siew (the reddish meat) to wanton (dumpling) to noodle is just right. And the sauce mmmm yum yum! :D

For a quick, affordable and yummy meal within Orchard itself, this is really a fantastic option :)

Directions
To get here, you need to walk to Orchard Cineleisure, which is located behind Mandarin Gallery, which is sandwiched between Takashimaya and the H&M.

After you enter the building you would see this

And then as you go down the escalator you would see a big food court like this (Have not tried all the food in this food court... but generally on average food only)

Turn right and walk a very short distance to the "Graffiti Cafe"!

This marks the end of the very first FCC post! I hope this is helpful, and stay tuned for even more places in Orchard that serve yummy local food!
